A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!
Truphone supports newly-announced Nokia Wi-Fi-equipped handsets

Truphone has confirmed that its mobile VoIP service is supported on three new Nokia handsets announced today: the Wi-Fi-equipped Nokia E61i, Nokia E65 and Nokia E90 models.
Truphone enables Wi-Fi-equipped mobile phones to make internet-rate phone calls (VoIP calls) over Wi-Fi connections. When the handset is not in Wi-Fi range it reverts from being a 'Truphone' to being a normal mobile handset, so people need only one device.
"The new Nokia E61i, Nokia E65 and Nokia E90 phones will be very popular and Truphone works on them from day one," said James Tagg, CEO of Truphone. "With other manufacturers also starting to put Wi-Fi on handsets, 2007 is the year that mobile meets the Internet - and that means Truphone VoIP," he added.
The Truphone client software has completed the Symbian signing process and is available for all new and existing Nokia Wi-Fi VoIP handsets.
Last week Truphone revealed interoperability with Google Talk, announcing that Google Talk users can connect with Truphone mobile handsets anywhere in the world for free. Calls between Google Talk and Truphone are free because they are pure VoIP calls and take place entirely over the internet.
Truphone is free to download and there are no monthly subscriptions or hidden charges. Truphone-to-Truphone calls and Truphone-to-Google Talk calls are always free; other calls are charged at characteristically low internet rates. Until the end of March 2007, calls from the UK to landlines in more than 40 countries are free, while USA customers can call across the USA and Canada for free.
Truphone announced its beta software for earlier Wi-Fi-enabled Nokia mobile handsets in September 2006. It is already available on the Nokia E60, Nokia E61, Nokia E70 and Nokia N80 Internet Edition handsets. Truphone for other devices will follow soon.
