Maxis’ Community on the Lookout for Miss MaxGames Print E-mail
Written by Maxis Group
Thursday, 08 February 2007
Singapore, 8 February 2007 - Ozura Mobile, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nextnation Communication, and Maxis Communication Berhad, Malaysia's leading telecommunications provider today announced the “Search for Miss MaxGames and The MaxGirls (“MxG”)”, one of the most significant combined events ever powered by MaxGames. MaxGames runs on FunlogiX™, the proprietary mobile gaming community platform developed by Ozura.

MaxGames which has been known as Malaysia's first subscription based mobile gaming and community portal will be launching its first major event for the year 2007 in the lookout for an upcoming star for Maxgames’ role model.

Lion Peh, Ozura's Chief Executive Officer said, "In the search for Miss MaxGames, we’re not only promoting the MaxGames community but simultaneously boosting interest and appeal among female gamers to participate and reveal their talents. We’re looking forward to a good response from both MaxGames’ members and non-members alike.”

A US survey revealed that women players are responsible for two-thirds of the sales of mobile phone games. Furthermore, Female wireless subscribers make up 65% of mobile phone game revenue, according to mobile research firm Telephia.

“The idea here is to encourage female mobile gamers in a usually male-dominated arena. It will also make mobile games more competitive and will build a mobile games community. The Search for Miss MaxGames is a contest to find the most elite and best female gamer. The MaxGirls (“MxG”) however will comprise of 4 females that will be under the wing of Miss MaxGames. This competition will be open to all female Maxis/Hotlink subscribers.” Said Kee Saik Meng, Head of Games & Entertainment, Maxis.

The contest will be separated into 3 rounds. The preliminary and qualifying round requires participants to send in their applications. These applications are open for submission starting from 15th of January till the 4th of March 2007. As long as the participants meet the age requirements of 18-25, there will be a chance to get short listed. Other required application documents would include a couple of self-portrait pictures and a brief profile summary.

During the second round, short listed candidates will then have to go through an interview session the following week. This interview is to test the contestants on their gaming knowledge and personality.

A total of 15 finalists who qualified and passed the selection process will be appearing on the final showdown in the Game and Anime Festival at Sungai Wang Plaza which falls on the 16th of March till 18th of March 2007. These 12 finalists will be required to play Ozura’s new hit games, Antopia and The Duel Online live. 5 of the highest scoring finalists will be awarded The MaxGirls (“MxG”) recognition and will move on to the final round to compete in The Duel Online the very next day.

During this final round, the finalist with the highest score in The Duel Online will be crowned Miss MaxGames 2007. The winner of this competition will be given a chance to become a MaxGames’ ambassador along with valuable prizes. The new MaxGames’ ambassador will sign a 1-year contract with MaxGames to be featured in Maxis’ upcoming road shows and other promotional activities.

To enter the contest, apply now at Miss MaxGames’ website http://www.maxgames.com.my/missmaxgames/  or WAP http://www.maxgames.com.my/missmaxgames/.php.
