Aztecsoft to provide content delivery solutions and applications for Symbian
smartphones. Since 1995, Aztecsoft has built, tested, released over 1500 enterprise-class
products.
Bangalore, India, January 29, 2007 - Aztecsoft Limited has announced that it
has joined Symbian's Platinum Program to support the growing market for Symbian
smartphones. As a Platinum Partner, Aztecsoft is extending applications and platform
solutions for mobile and convergence markets to the Symbian ecosystem. Symbian
develops and licenses Symbian OS, the operating system that powers today's most
popular smartphones. Symbian OS is licensed by the world's leading mobile phone
manufacturers and to date, over 100 million Symbian smartphones have shipped worldwide
to over 250 major network operators.
The smartphone market is entering a new era of lower cost, higher volume devices.
Andy Brown, mobile devices specialist at IDC, predicts that cumulative sales of
smartphones will reach over 1 billion units by 2011. He comments, "The smartphone
segment of the handset market is seeing strong annual growth and is expected to
rise from 57 million units in 2005 to around 250 million units by the end of 2010.
The advent of single chip designs will inevitably attract a growing number of
licensees and drive greater penetration into the mid-market segment."
"This partnership reflects our dedication to the mobile and convergence markets
and our commitment to further enhance our mobile strategy," said Gyana Bardhan
Pattnaik, VP Mobile & Wireless Practice, Aztecsoft Limited. "By becoming a
Symbian Platinum Partner, we expand our suite of offerings in the mobile domain
to include messaging, entertainment, and content platform solutions enabled by
mobile handset applications besides strengthening our relationships with users,
application developers, smartphone manufacturers and carriers."
"The addition of Aztecsoft to the Symbian Platinum Program underscores our joint
commitment to bring innovative applications and platforms to the ever expanding
and increasingly sophisticated Symbian OST ecosystem," said Mike Whittingham,
VP Ecosystem Development, Symbian Ltd. "Having Aztecsoft as a Platinum Partner
will ensure some of the best mobile software engineering support will now be available
for those companies wishing to develop mobile solutions for the world's leading
smartphone OS."
