Have you left your mark yet? A reminder about the UIQ Open Print E-mail
Written by SymbianOne
Tuesday, 16 January 2007
There's no better way to kick start your application then by gaining recognition from the industry at large. One such opportunity that exists for application developers is the UIQ Open - a competition  in search of the most creative UIQ applications. Categories for apps include Business, Mobility, Lifestyle, Utilities, and Entertainment... Good Luck!

Participate in the UIQ Open, an application competition where you submit your most creative UIQ 3 application(s) and a panel of judges picks up to two winners in five categories to reward each with a UIQ phone, marketing and commercial packages and more. On top of that, the winners will have their application featured in the UIQ Demo Suite 2007... submit your applications until February 18, 2007, but register early!

If your application is cool or trendy or eye candy or ground-breaking or revolutionary or has the potential to make you filthy rich or is simply addictive, then don't wait, enter the competition: winning the UIQ Open is the perfect showcase for it!

Here's how it works:

  • Software developers and software companies submit UIQ 3 applications in different categories on the UIQ developer Community website
  • a jury of experts evaluates the submissions and appoints winners

Who can participate?

  • Whether you already have an application running on UIQ, you will port one from another platform or will develop one for this competition, you are welcome to participate.
  • UIQ Open is absolutely free of charge! You only need to be a member of the UIQ Developer Community (Free of charge)
  • All types of submissions are welcome: amateur personal demos, open source projects, commercial applications - all are entitled to win

  • Mobility - for Telephony, Internet, IM, Travel, Communication, etc related applications.
  • Lifestyle - for PIM, News, Blogs, Sharing, etc related applications.
  • Entertainment - for Music, Photo, Video, Games, etc related applications.
  • Utilities - for Tools and applications that don't fit in the former categories.

Cool Prizes:

- 1 phone (Sony Ericsson W950)

- 1 invitation to an UIQ Fast Track event, valid during 2007

- 1 Accredited Symbian Developer exam fee

- The winners will also get promotion on Handango and Motricity application shop for a commercial version of their application - - a $1000 worth Motricity Marketing Package - a $1000 worth Handango featured product placement
