Defraxion, from the UK mobile games developer Black Bull Studios, promises to

North West England, December 18th 2006: Prepare to get defracted into what Black
Bull Studios believes will be one of the most compulsive breakout games to be
produced since the classic Arkanoid 1. Only this time, you can do it on the move!
Defraxion, from the UK mobile games developer Black Bull Studios, promises to
be one of the hottest mobile smart-phone games to be available starting 2007.
It is a 3D breakout game with a host of innovative new features that is expected
to make it stand out in mobile entertainment.
In Defraxion, the gamer controls a bat to hit different types of bouncing balls
against coloured bricks that make up a moving 3D wall. Points are gained depending
on which colour of brick is taken out of the game. The designers at Black Bull
Studios have incorporated some clever functionality that is intended to sustain
game play. Impact with any brick eliminates it but can trigger effects such as
changing the ball type, its bounce characteristic or the release of an array of
power ups. During game-play, bricks can reproduce, move around or even create
temporary holes in the wall to fox the gamer and challenge their score.
Perspective views, multi-axis bat control, real time rendering and a bewildering
host of behaviours and visual effects are all designed to make Defraxion extremely
addictive throughout its 100 plus levels.
The company has delayed its latest release until now because of additional work
necessary to optimise the game’s underlying software engine.
David Hothersall is the director responsible for innovation and content at Black
Bull. He says, “The specification of Defraxion created earlier this year highlighted
the need for increasingly sophisticated physics and the requirement to adapt skews
for new and rapidly emerging markets. We chose to concentrate on a route that
would give us a supercharged product together with an engine that would form the
basis of our 2007 portfolio.”
Defraxion is the first in that new product family from Black Bull Studios and
it is available from today together with the redeveloped TalarisTM gaming engine.
It follows in the footsteps of the company’s ground breaking shoot ‘em up game,
Destiny released earlier this year.
Hothersall continues, “We’ve crammed all sorts of new features into Defraxion
such as fire balls, shrinking bats, bouncing sticky balls, opening walls and frantically
random game-play. Kids and old folks, male or female, all seem to get really
hooked on the game, even after just a couple of minutes play.”
Defraxion is compatible with all smart-phones containing the 1St and 2nd edition
versions of the Symbian S60 operating system and is released initially in English.
Other phone compatibility and language variants are scheduled for Q1 2007 onwards.
