Phonified Launches Mobile Basecamp-Compatible Application Print E-mail
Written by SymbianOne
Monday, 11 December 2006
Phonified, a developer of data applications for cell phones, has announced the launch of Phonified Tracker, which allows mobile access to the Basecamp™ project collaboration tool, allowing users to track and coordinate their group projects from their phones without having to use a computer.

Phonified Tracker Enables Mobile Access Through S60, PalmOS, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile Devices

Basecamp is currently used by more than 500,000 users to assign to-dos and tasks, post messages and gather feedback, schedule meetings and events, share files, and track time.

Users of Phonified Tracker can check their To-do lists, and can create or complete tasks from their mobile device, and the changes are immediately shared with the team through the Basecamp server. Phonified Tracker also lets subscribers post, read, and edit messages, supporting simple formatting commands for emphasis and for lists, and can comment on their own or other team member’s posts. Users can track project milestones including due date and completion status, and can review To-do lists associated with a milestone. For Plus, Premium and Max Basecamp account holders, users can track time conveniently from mobile phones as they start and complete tasks, rather than having to remember and update information later. Users must have a Basecamp account (sign up at www.basecamphq.com), a wireless data plan, and a recent model phone. Phonified Tracker currently supports Nokia S60 (Series 60) phones, BlackBerry devices, Palm Treos, and Windows Mobile phones, and is available throughout the United States and around the world.

Phonified CEO Dr. James Storey says that, "In today's mobile work environment, it is critical for all members of a team to be able to work together effectively, no matter where they are. Basecamp has rapidly established itself as a premier online collaboration tool, and we are proud to give users an opportunity to access their important information even when they aren't in front of their computers."

About Phonified

Phonified allows users of low- and medium-end mobile phones as well as smart phones to access Web-based data through simple, easy-to-use interfaces. The company's CEO, Dr. James Storey, has more than 20 years experience developing applications for wireless carriers around the world and is using that expertise to help real people -- who don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on "high-tech gadgets" -- stay connected. A Chicago native, James spent more than 15 years with TCSI, a publicly traded telecom software company, before founding Phonified. He earned his bachelor's degree from Cornell and his Ph.D. from Stanford. The company was founded in 2005, and is based in Berkeley, California.

Phonified Tracker is neither authorized nor endorsed by 37signals.

37signals is a privately held Chicago-based company committed to building the best web-based software products possible with the least number of features necessary. 37signals' products include Basecamp for project collaboration, Campfire for real-time group chat, Backpack for organizing information, Writeboard for collaborative writing, and Ta-da List for to-do lists.
