Raketu’s Peer-to-Peer Communications Service to Run on Symbian OS Print E-mail
Written by Raketu Communications Inc.
Monday, 04 December 2006
Raketu Communications Inc., a developer of cutting edge peer-to-peer (P2P) Internet protocol applications that provide communications, information and entertainment services for consumers and for business, today announced that their P2P communications service will soon be available for use on mobile phones that use the Symbian OS.

Through Raketu, Mobile Phone Users Will Be Able to Make Free VoIP Calls To Over 40 Countries

Symbian creates and licenses Symbian OS, the market leading operating system based on open standards for advanced mobile phones, also called “Smartphones.” Some phones which use Symbian OS include Nokia's E70 and N80. Through Raketu, mobile phone users will be able to make free voice over IP (VoIP) calls to over 40 countries.

“For the first time in history, we are enabling consumers around the world to make free calls to friends, family, acquaintances and business associates located in more than forty countries via their mobile phones,” said Greg Parker, President of Raketu Inc. “For locations not covered by our free global communications services, Raketu also offers lower calling rates and higher quality calling services than other VoIP competitors like Skype.”

Currently, all pre-paid customers of Raketu’s PC based "RakOut" dial-out VoIP services enjoy free calling to over 40 countries. All calls to locations in these countries are free regardless of where they originate. To run Raketu on mobile phones that use the Symbian OS, consumers can download the software at www.Raketu.com starting January ’07.

No Supernodes

Raketu’s unique P2P architecture allows the highest quality VoIP calling and highest call-completion in the industry. Unlike similar P2P communications providers, Raketu does not use Supernodes (a user’s PC in a P2P network that acts as a relay between users. Current network traffic and the capabilities of the user's hardware automatically dictate which PC’s will be Supernodes). As a result, consumers who choose Raketu do not have the security risk and performance problems associated with other services.

Integrated Service

Raketu provides the most comprehensive integrated communications, information and entertainment tool available:

Raketu’s Communications features include: high quality VoIP dialout calling to landline and mobile phones. Raketu supports Raketu member Instant Messaging along with Yahoo®, MSN®, AOL®, ICQ®, Google® and Skype® Instant Messaging services in one central location. Raketu also supports SMS-text messaging, file transfers, file sharing, click-to-call, click-to-IM, click-to-SMS, global online presence, and enhanced social networking features.

Currently, all pre-paid customers of Raketu’s PC based "RakOut" dial-out VoIP services enjoy free calling to over 40 countries. All calls to locations in these countries are free regardless of where they originate. In the coming months, Raketu will launch its in-bound calling service, advanced voicemail features, and large conferencing capabilities among other services.

Raketu’s Information features include: news, sports, weather, stock feeds with alerts, and an advanced Internet and travel searching facility.

Raketu’s Entertainment features include: podcast reader/player, games, picture/slide viewer, and a full featured multi-media player with karaoke.

Raketu operates via any Internet connection from basic dial-up connections to broadband. Essentially, anyone with Internet access, a Windows PC, and a headset can start using Raketu immediately.
