Augmentra, a leading innovator in gps-enabled navigation software for smartphones, has announced the latest version of its award-winning ViewRanger off-road mapping, navigation and information software for Nokia and other Symbian S60 smartphones.

ViewRanger is specifically designed for the off-road user, whether hill-walker, mountain biker, geocacher, birdwatcher, or rural tourist, and offers full colour 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey topographic maps, GPS navigation, GPS tracklog recording for performance analysis, integration with the smartphone camera to place photos on the map, and its unique 3D Panoramic Viewpoint display.
This latest version of ViewRanger includes many new features that allow outdoor enthusiasts to exchange information and share their experiences:
- Points of Interest – create brand new POI, group, move, edit and attach media files to POI. Share favourite locations and attractions via ViewRanger’s online Information Exchange.
- Calling and Messaging Integration – new POI "click-to-call" functionality and include location coordinates in email and MMS/SMS messages.
- Enhanced Search - search POIs and 250,000 listed GB places in the gazetteer. Search on the handset or on the Information Exchange server.
- Photo Sharing – now share all your photos and notes in one go.
Other enhancements include improvements to browsing POIs on the map, and auto-scale when viewing of maps of varying scales.
