Open to all J2ME developers, MobileRated, a free games for mobile phones web and wap portal, has announced a $500 Developer Contest starting October 1, 2006.

Developers may enter as many products as they wish. The most downloaded product, as determined by the Contest Rules, earns the developer $500 Canadian.

During the content duration, top products will be highlighted regularly for additional exposure. The purpose of the contest is to promote quality free mobile phone games and the MobileRated portal, and encourage developers to get products into the hands of consumers. The contest is open to any free, J2ME content - including open source, game demos, trials, limited subscriptions, ad-supported, or totally free content.

The contest runs from October 1, 2006 through March 31, 2007. The product with the most downloads over any 30-day period, as defined in the Contest Rules, earns $500. In this way, products entered later in the contest are not discriminated against.

This is a wonderful opportunity for developers, both professional and amateur, to test the popularity of their mobile phone games. MobileRated provides not only great download opportunities, but also provides consumer ratings and reviews, and MobileRated indexes, sorts, and categorizes all entries for maximum exposure.
