Tele Atlas to Provide Digital Map Data for Nokia N95 Multimedia Device Print E-mail
Written by Tele Atlas
Tuesday, 26 September 2006

New York, September 26, 2006 – Tele Atlas (FSE: TA6, EUNV: TA), a leading navigation and location based services content provider for wireless devices and applications worldwide, today announced it has been selected by Nokia to provide the digital map data and dynamic location content for the Nokia N95, a new multimedia device equipped with GPS functionality launched by Nokia today in New York.

“Nokia and Tele Atlas share the vision that mobile handsets can help people not only better connect with each other, but better connect with the world around them,” said Tele Atlas Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Alain De Taeye. “The Nokia N95 introduction, enhanced with rich and highly accurate Tele Atlas map data and dynamic location content, will transform the way people discover things. We’re delighted that Nokia selected us to power the N95’s personal navigation features.”

The Nokia N95 is a multimedia computer that offers mobile users around the world multiple ways to connect to information, entertainment and people. An integral part of the Nokia Nseries multimedia personal computers, the Nokia N95 features built-in global positioning system (GPS), WLAN, a 5 mega-pixel camera, HSDPA and dual mode menu (standard/landscape). The Nokia N95’s navigation features leverage Tele Atlas digital map content and provide users with pre-installed features, including:

Free, basic mapping and routing functionalities to initiate local searches for more than 100 countries;
Map display, so that users can clearly see precisely where they are;
More than 15 million points of interest (POIs), to help users easily find local attractions; and
Optional upgrades to full navigation features, intended so that users can be quickly and accurately routed to wherever they need to go.

“We’re excited to work with Tele Atlas to complement our mobile mapping and navigation offerings,” said Ralph Eric Kunz, vice president, Multimedia Nokia. “The Nokia N95 is the first Nokia Nseries multimedia computer to leverage built-in GPS along with high-speed connectivity to allow consumers to search, map and navigate to a location.”
