Today's Conference Brings Together Wireless Carriers, Venture Capitalists, Tool Providers, and Developers at CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 11 -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, is hosting the NAVTEQ LBS Developer Conference today at the Los Angeles Convention Center as part of NAVTEQ's exclusive LBS sponsorship with CTIA. Openwave Systems, a leading independent

provider of software solutions for the communications and media industries, is the Signature Sponsor of the conference.

The day-long NAVTEQ LBS Developer Conference is the first of its kind at CTIA, providing developers with the opportunity to interact with key industry players including leading wireless carriers, venture capitalist firms, industry experts, and LBS tool and platform providers.

Michael Powell, former FCC Chairman, is delivering the keynote address focused on the rise of digital technologies and future impact on technology-driven businesses. The conference also features a mix of business and technical panel discussions and presentations.

Highlights of the Developer Conference include:

-- Openwave's John Trobough, Vice President Product Solutions, delivers a presentation on the LBS market trends including the evolution of the communications industry toward fixed mobile convergence and an all-IP world;

-- Wireless carriers Cingular, Sprint, Telus, and Verizon Wireless lead a panel discussion on how developers should best engage with carriers to optimize the opportunity to have their applications included on their service decks;

-- Venture capitalist firms DFJ Portage Venture Partners, MK Capital, and Sutter Ventures review developer criteria for venture funding;

-- LBS tool and platform providers Autodesk, deCarta, ESRI, KnowledgeWhere, Networks in Motion, and Nokia provide insight into their latest tools and platforms to help developers build next generation LBS applications. In conjunction with NAVTEQ, tool providers are providing attendees a hands-on experience in a specially designed Tech Lab;

-- Major Industry influencers such as Microsoft and Yahoo offer insight on how open APIs will impact the future of location;

-- Past semifinalists from the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge(TM) demonstrate their LBS applications in the Product Showcase.
