deCarta Announces Second Annual Developer Conference Print E-mail
Written by deCarta
Wednesday, 16 August 2006
The two-day event is aimed specifically at technical professionals and business people from Internet, mobile, and telematics industries who are designing, deploying and marketing location-based applications

San Jose, Calif. – August 14, 2006 – deCarta (formerly Telcontar), the leading supplier of software platforms and services for the Location-Based Services (LBS) industry, today announced that registration is now open for its second annual Developers Conference. deCarta’s devCON’06 (http://www.decarta.com/developers/devconference2006.html) will be held October 4-5, 2006 at Mission Bay Conference Center at UCSF in San Francisco.

 The conference will help attendees make strategic development decisions by providing in-depth information about LBS market trends and emerging technologies from deCarta and its partners. From now until September 8, registrants can take advantage of the early bird conference rate of $150.

Location-based applications and services have become the canvas for service providers seeking to create market differentiation and a compelling end-user experience. As a provider of geospatial software solutions supporting the industry's most successful applications (e.g., Google Maps, Yahoo!, Ask.com, Verizon, Sprint), deCarta is at the center of this exciting new industry trend. deCarta’s devCON’06 offers developers a forum where they can learn practical implementation techniques and a unique opportunity to get first-hand knowledge from the technologists and experts who are bringing those new capabilities to market.

devCON’06 attendees will meet key members of deCarta's development team, technology partners, and outside industry experts. Registrants will have a chance to interact directly with the architects and designers of the leading location-based products, services, and applications. Attendees will be able to select from a broad agenda of technology and business sessions focusing on current challenges, trends and opportunities, with presentations and panel discussions featuring industry experts. Curriculum examples include:

• Full day workshops on deCarta's Developer Zone and Drill Down Server (DDS) Web Services with the goal of completing a full-featured live application at the end of the day (attendees must bring a laptop with Wi-Fi enabled connectivity);
• Series of sessions providing an accelerated course on developing applications using deCarta's DDS Web Services and powerful new JavaScript API;
• Intermediate-level and advanced technical sessions exploring such critical topics as geocoding, map image settings, aerial image underlay, traffic data integration, platform and scalability;
• VC panel discussion: Venture capitalist’s view of industry opportunities;
• Special session:  Mobile applications cookbook;
• Special evening reception and mixer event at San Francisco's Exploratorium

deCarta will also be hosting a European developer conference taking place on Monday, October 30, 2006 in the conference facilities at the Chelsea Football Stadium Business Centre in London.  More information on the European conference will be provided at a later date.
