GroupWise Wireless Email Solution Now Supports S60 Smartphones; Nokia Eseries and BlackBerry Support Announced for Fourth Quarter, 2006
With Version 2.2, Omni Mobile provides GroupWise wireless email for Nokia S60; Palm OS; Pocket PC and Windows Mobile 5 PDAs; and Sony Ericsson smart phones.
"Our Nokia customers are excited about Omni delivering this new GroupWise wireless email option," said Jon Gerdes, Managing Director for Blueloop, a UK-based consulting service firm and Omni reseller. "The Nokia Series 60 phones are among the world's most popular with over 50 million having been sold. With the immediate availability of Omni Mobile for Nokia S60 and Omni's announcement of future support for Eseries devices (E60, E61 and E70), our Nokia customers have a new option to meet their GroupWise wireless email needs."
Omni Mobile provides more than just PIM synchronization -- it provides a complete on-line and off-line GroupWise caching client for mobile devices. Its native GroupWise look-and-feel leads to quick user adoption and high user satisfaction. Omni Mobile's server module installs on customers' existing Novell NetWare, Linux or Windows servers.
"We are responding to the needs of our global customers by adding Nokia 60 support to Omni Mobile," explains Aldo Zanoni, CEO and Managing Director for Omni. "Our customers appreciate that Omni Mobile installs directly on their existing GroupWise servers. Unlike other GroupWise wireless email solutions, Omni Mobile does not require a Windows server be installed as the mobile gateway. Omni Mobile delivers a substantial value proposition because it leverages customers' existing investments in Novell NetWare, SUSE Linux or Microsoft Windows GroupWise servers. There are no additional firewall configuration requirements, protocols to configure, external databases to manage and no server patching requirements."
"Omni Mobile's ability to deliver cross-platform mobile device support is directly tied to our use of Crossfire from AppForge," continues Zanoni. "By using Crossfire as our development platform, we are able to add support for new mobile platforms and operating systems without having to rewrite Omni Mobile for each specific platform. The next platforms to be supported by Omni Mobile for GroupWise will be Nokia Series 60 Third Generation phones and Blackberry devices."
Omni delivers a portfolio of management, security, mobility, messaging and Linux desktop software products for enterprise users of Novell GroupWise, SUSE Linux, and mixed Novell and Microsoft networks.
