Drive for Quality Gathers Strength as Industry Leaders Join In Print E-mail
Written by Oxygen Software
Wednesday, 26 July 2006
Oxygen Software is the first developer whose PC software has been certified for the use with Nokia S60 3rd Edition smartphones

The Symbian quality standard for mobile applications changes the face of the communications industry as leading developers join their certification program.

MOSCOW, Russia. - July 26, 2006: Oxygen Software is the first developer of phone managing software whose product has been certified for the use in Symbian smartphones. The company follows its adopted policy of independent testing to promote better quality of software engineering. The release of Oxygen Phone Manager II for Smartphones v2.10 accommodates to the latest trends in smartphone design and extends its support to Nokia Series 60 3rd Edition phones. Once again Oxygen Software proves its reputation of the industry pacesetter.

Symbian introduced its certification program to address the needs of mobile applications community. The program's aim is to promote best practice in application development. Symbian Signed applications install without a warning and conform to the Symbian quality standard. The framework developer promises that the program will benefit end users as well as companies in the distribution chain.

"The Symbian Signed certification program is an important step toward uniform standards for mobile applications," says Nike Golubev, Public Relations Officer for Oxygen Software. "Users can now extend the capabilities of their smartphones confident of their safe use. We are proud to be the first to offer safe management of smartphones from a PC."

It's the second testing that Oxygen Software has been running since the beginning of the year. First, it certified Oxygen Phone Manager II with an authorized Nokia and Samsung service centre for compliance and compatibility. The successful results in both tests should reassure the end user of the company's commitment to the best standards of software engineering.

"Mobile communications is one of the most dynamic industries at present," notes Nike Golubev. "The changes that it brings to our life are as dramatic as they are fast. As part of the industry, we are committed to providing support for the most recent technologies and models of phones. The latest version of Oxygen Phone Manger II extends its support to Series 60 3rd Edition of Symbian smartphones, including Nokia 3250 and also new models in E and N series of Nokia smartphones."

Oxygen Phone Manager II for Smartphones backs up, synchronises and interactively manages the contents and settings of a phone. With it you can access everything from the phonebook or calendar to connectivity logs and installed applications. It can move the data between different phone models in a few minutes. The program automatically detects the phone model and selects a compatible data format. From the PC keyboard you can text, dial numbers, access contacts, and do other editing. The backup saves the contents and settings of a phone to a hard drive and protects them with a password. It's hard to think of a feature in a smartphone that can't be accessed and managed with Oxygen Phone Manager II. Try it for free and see for yourself.
