A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!
DataViz Launches Documents To Go for UIQ 3.0 on Symbian OS

DataViz, Inc., a leading provider of Office compatibility solutions for over 22 years, has announced the availability of Documents To Go for Symbian smartphones with UIQ 3.0, featuring InTact Technology and PowerPoint editing.
Award-Winning Mobile Office Suite Now Available for Sony Ericsson M600, P990 and W950 Smartphones
This new edition of Documents To Go provides the ability to view and edit native Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the latest Symbian smartphones from Sony Ericsson, including the just released M600 and the soon to be released P990 and W950. Documents To Go is also available on a variety of mobile platforms including Symbian OS based Series 80 and UIQ 2; as well as Palm OS, where it continues to be a leading mobile Office solution.
“Documents To Go is a great productivity tool which takes advantage of usability improvements and features included with the newest generation of UIQ 3.0-based smartphones like the M600, P990 and W950,” said Danny Tu, product manager, DataViz, Inc. “As smartphones continue to get ’smarter’ and offer more advanced functionality, applications like Documents To Go will become more of an integral part of business professionals’ arsenal of mobile tools and solutions.”
DataViz' unique InTact Technology is built-in to provide complete original document integrity when Microsoft Office files, including PowerPoint files, are edited by users on the smartphone. This is especially vital when desktop documents containing complex formatting and layouts are edited in a mobile environment. With InTact Technology, users can confidently update documents on their smartphone without fear of negatively altering rich formatting in a file. Any edits made in Documents To Go will be intelligently merged with a file's original formatting to create an updated document that can then be e-mailed or exchanged with others directly from the smartphone.
In addition to the launch of Documents To Go for UIQ 3.0, DataViz also recently announced its RoadSync solution is powering the Exchange ActiveSync client for Sony Ericsson’s M600, P990 and W950 smartphones. Together these solutions offer an enterprise-grade mobile office suite which enables access to critical business data such as: Outlook e-mail and attachments, along with Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.
“We are delighted to see the capability of the DataViz solutions become available for the latest phones incorporating UIQ 3.0 on Symbian OS,” said Simon Garth, vice president, marketing, Symbian Ltd. “The Documents To Go office suite with its unique InTact Technology further extends users' flexibility and productivity options in the mobile enterprise and provides the confidence to edit important files directly on the smartphone.”
Documents To Go for UIQ 3.0 supports the landscape view featured on both the M600, P990 and W950 smartphones, capitalizing on the maximum screen real estate available when working with Office files. Features including word count for word processing files and the ability to view spreadsheet comments have also been added to further enhance the mobile experience on the M600, P990 and W950.
