Celebrity Voices from Burt Reynolds and Dennis Hopper to Mr. T Available for
Download onto TomTom's Navigation Devices
CONCORD, Mass. & LOS ANGELES--June 27, 2006--Make your driving experience
even better by listening to one of your favorite A-list celebrities or a humorous
character as they show you the way on your TomTom portable navigation device.
TomTom, the leading portable navigation solution provider worldwide, has signed
a marketing agreement with Navtones to offer celebrity voices as a downloadable
option to TomTom's GPS devices. For as little as $12.95 per voice, TomTom customers
can now hear their driving directions with attitude from Mr. T, from the distinctive
voice of Burt Reynolds or from the revved up Dennis Hopper. Some voices may be
available for less and others even for free on a promotional basis.
The digitized voices can be downloaded from www.navtones.com on a range of TomTom's GPS devices, including the TomTom flagship GO line, TomTom
RIDER for motorcycles and TomTom NAVIGATOR 5.
"We are excited to be working with such an innovative and cutting edge company
and view our voice downloads as a perfect compliment to TomTom's consumer-friendly
image," said Will Andre, chief executive officer of Navtones. "Our voices turn
the mindset of once dry driving directions into an entertaining adventure in the
car. Our downloadable voices integrate with TomTom's navigation software so the
driver can still hear step-by-step directions, with a few added phrases for fun
- all in the voice of a familiar celebrity or character voice."
Navtones has included two additional free voices for a limited time with the
purchase of a celebrity download.
TomTom also offers 70 preloaded* voices in 36 languages. Other entertaining voices
available for download from TomTom include celebrity John Cleese, a NYC cab driver,
a Freudian psychoanalyst, Granny Rose and many more. Go to www.tomtom.com to see and hear a complete list, and for easy download instructions.
"At TomTom, we strive to bring our consumers the best portable navigation products
on the market," said TomTom vice president of marketing, Anne Louise Hanstad.
"Similar to ringtones on cell phones, we find that drivers are most interested
in hearing navigation directions from a voice that matches their mood or personality.
Whether it's Dennis Hopper or Burt Reynolds chiming funny phrases, the array of
choices make navigating with TomTom even more entertaining and personal."
