Realtime Tracking of Multiple Handsets on Display at TelecomNext 2006
CHICAGO, March 20 -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital
map data for location based solutions and vehicle navigation and GeoSpatial Technologies,
Inc. (GST), developer of innovative, location-based technologies will be demonstrating
GST's location-based platforms using NAVTEQ(R) data to track realtime locations
of multiple handsets and vehicles simultaneously.
GST is one of the few companies to successfully integrate multiple wireless communication
protocols to track the locations of handsets, vehicles, and other mobile assets,
and display and manage these locations simultaneously on a single map display.
The GST solutions target the public safety, telematics, and transportation management
market segments. GST will display realtime tracking in the NAVTEQ booth (# 2439)
at TelecomNext 2006 in Las Vegas March 21-22, 2006.
"The integration of NAVTEQ data with GST's location-based platform provides
our customers the most accurate and reliable map database commercially available,"
commented Hong Chou, CTO of GeoSpatial Technologies. "Knowing that the map database
comes from NAVTEQ, the worldwide leader in navigation and location-based services
sends a clear message to our customers that delivering value to their business
is the number one objective of GST."
NAVTEQ employs one of the industry's most comprehensive development and quality
control programs for the highest levels of quality and precision. Executed by
an extensive team of over 550 field researchers, the NAVTEQ database includes
detailed attributes from turn restrictions and relative road crossing heights
to road segment access restrictions, one-way streets and speed categories that
help optimize routing. Additionally, NAVTEQ maps include Points of Interest including
restaurants, hospitals, shopping centers and leisure facilities, making it easier
to locate and route to many different destinations.
"Participating with GST's success in the Public Safety, Telematics, and Transportation
Management segments is a natural expansion of NAVTEQ data's contribution," said
Roy Kolstad, Vice President and General Manager - Business and Government Solutions,
NAVTEQ. "GST's location-based software platform integrates GIS, GPS, and wireless
communications demonstrating the evolving nature of these industries' needs."
