Cologne Content Provider confirms its claim for leadership in quality and innovation
with broad portfolio of brand new contents
Cologne, February 28, 2006 – MEF Mobile Entertainment Factory, one of the leading
suppliers of entertainment services for mobile communication, successfully presented
its content portfolio for this year´s soccer highlight at the 3GSM World Congress
in Barcelona which finished last week.
The main focus was placed on two self-developed football applications in Java
programming language – Play Off and 3D Fan Faces. Play Off is a news service realised
with client/server architecture. The end client downloads a program onto his mobile
phone which provides all basic information about the tournament. In addition,
the latest results can be downloaded throughout the tournament. The user can thus
obtain an up-to-date overview over the development of the tournament at any time
and from any location desired.
The second innovation – 3D Fan Faces – enables the user to take a photo whilst
running the application. The image can be edited and then sent by MMS. Using preset
elements – supporters´ caps, painted blindfolds or cheeks – a fan face can be
created in the 32 national colours of the participating countries. The user can
save the image on his mobile device or send it directly by MMS. In order to do
this, the user can even access the personal phone book – depending on the type
of mobile phone. The novelty of this application lies in the combination of the
camera with the MMS function, both rolled into one application.
Both applications are already running as executable versions on the first end
devices. Porting to numerous end devices is currently taking place. These versions
will be delivered to the international distribution partners – mobile network
operators and mobile portals - in ample time to make the applications available
via all major portals.
Both applications met with enthusiastic response at the recent 3GSM World Congress.
Particular interest was shown in special customer-branded versions, translations
into a variety of languages as well as adaptations for other sports.
Besides the Java applications, the introduction of graphic and audio contents
–wallpapers, animations, realtones, and especially User Interface themes formed
a focal point of MEF Mobile Entertainment Factory´s Congress presence. CEO Dr.
Hubert Weid comments: “Trebling the size of our stand compared to last year has
secured our company the top position among the content zone exhibitors. We have
been able to double the number of relevant contacts whilst further increasing
the quality of the contacts made.”
