NEW YORK -- Crisp Wireless, a leading provider of consumer facing mobile applications,
content management, delivery, and commerce solutions, today announced that it
has created a new mobile WAP site and provided content management tools to manage
the new wireless offering from USATODAY.com, an award-winning news and information
Web site.
The WAP site, located on portals of select U.S. carriers, is also available to
mobile users worldwide at wap.usatoday.com. Users can browse, search and read
specially-formatted mobile versions of USATODAY.com stories, columns, and photo
galleries, updated on a real-time basis.
Crisp’s mLogic™ Media platform provides the backbone of the USATODAY.com
mobile service, enabling the wide deployment of a service that can be viewed on
literally hundreds of types of cell phones by millions of users. Users can choose
from various USATODAY.com content categories, including news, money, sports, life,
technology, travel and weather.
“The wireless media market has matured into an everyday aspect of
our lives; people want to view trusted news sources everywhere they go, and now
readers can experience a mobile-optimized version of USATODAY.com that leverages
our award winning design and ease of use,” said Matt Jones, Director, Mobile Products,
USATODAY.com. “We have been leaders in delivering news and information to mobile
users for several years, but the launch of the new USATODAY.com WAP site has required
a platform that is robust enough to sustain an audience of potentially millions
of mobile users, and now we have it.”
“The killer application for wireless content has been news, and USATODAY.com
is the obvious leader in this space. We are pleased to help deliver a product
that we feel should be a win-win for all involved, most specifically the mobile
user,” said Boris Fridman, CEO of Crisp Wireless. “People rely on their mobile
devices and their mobile news sources more than ever; these are now essential
parts of our being. The launch of USATODAY.com’s site further enhances their
multi-channel relationship with readers and also extends USATODAY.com’s advertising
business further into mobile media.”
While mLogic Media enables delivery of mobile content to WAP, BREW and Java devices,
the mobile USATODAY.com site is part of an increasing trend toward WAP. According
to M:Metrics, almost half of all mobile phones use WAP 2, the latest version of
the technology.
Crisp Wireless enables development of revenue-generating mobile portals
and downloadable applications for advertising, media, sports, and entertainment
clients, including industry-first experiences for music, film, and television
clients. The Crisp Wireless mLogic Media product provides seamless content management
