Elements Interactive B.V. releases version 2.30 of its multi-platform mobile
game engine Edge.
Elements Interactive Releases Edge SDK 2.30 Adding Emulated Surfaces and Combined
Color Filters
Zaandam, the Netherlands -- January 30th, 2006 -- This new version adds support
for emulated surfaces and the ability to combine Edge's internal color filters
on all supported surfaces and drawing methods.
With an emulated surface developers can create a surface in any supported color
depth. Edge supports the automatic color conversion when blitting from a surface
to another with a different color depth. The color filter improvements enable
developers to combine multiple of Edge's powerful filters. Additionally, the new
color filter Color Fill is added.
The Edge 2.30 release also includes numeral bugfixes and improvements such as
a bugfix in the rotate/scale function, a fix for the rounding issue when using
the opacity filter on surfaces with low color depths, a bugfix for an error in
the GetInfo() function and some minor DirectX issues regarding clipping.
A full list of additions and changes can be found on the product website located
at http://www.edgelib.com.
An evaluation version can be downloaded for free. Edge licensees are entitled
to download and install the commercial version of the new Edge SDK.
Key features of the Edge SDK include true multi-platform development, high-performance
graphics, RGBA surfaces and PNG support for all platforms, 3D graphics, both Bluetooth
and TCP/IP network support and support for Windows Mobile 5.0 and DirectX. Commercially
available game titles like the action platformer Li-Nuggz, space shooter Blazar
and popular multi-player puzzle game Quartz 2 are powered by Edge.
