Clickgamer Announces Cutting EDGE Coding Competition 2006 Print E-mail
Written by Clickgamer
Tuesday, 06 December 2005
clickgamerKnutsford, United Kingdom -- December 6th, 2005 -- Clickgamer Ltd, industry leading D2C retailer, announces a mobile game programming competition; the "Cutting EDGE Coding Competition 2006" using the recently launched EDGE mobile game engine.

Game studios and individuals all around the world are invited to participate in this unique mobile game coding competition. Contestants are expected to create a game of any genre using the EDGE SDK in a period of six months. Games created with the free downloadable evaluation and commercial version of the EDGE SDK are both accepted.

Chris Byatte, Clickgamer CEO says: "This competition is going to be something really special. It will be great to empower those really talented developers out there to create a game, and be able to focus on gameplay, graphics and sounds, and not worry about the technical aspects of cross compatibility. We are excited to see the creativity that will come with the entries of the competition. On your mark, get set, GO!"

The Cutting EDGE Coding Competition 2006 can be entered by applying on the competition website located at http://www.edgelib.com/competition.

The competition starts December 7th, 2005 and ends June 7th, 2006. The winning submission will be selected in June 2006 by a team of independent judges. The best game, in terms of originality, multi-platform awareness and playability wins the competition.

The grand prize of the winning submission consists of:
- A developer edition Gizmondo unit
- A two year commercial EDGE license
- $5,000 worth of free advertising at Clickgamer.com for their game

The EDGE SDK, with current version 2.10, supports the development of mobile applications and games for Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Symbian Series 60, Series 80, Series 90, Symbian UIQ and Windows desktop.

Key features of the EDGE SDK include true multi-platform development, high-performance graphics, RGBA surfaces and PNG support for all platforms, 3D graphics and both Bluetooth and TCP/IP network support.

More information about the EDGE SDK itself can be found on http://www.edgelib.com. An evaluation version for non-commercial use can be downloaded for free.
