Degel Software Delivers the Orange Talk Now Series 60 Client Print E-mail
Written by Degel Software
Wednesday, 26 October 2005

Israel based company develops Push-to-Talk service on behalf of multinational telecom giant.

Beit Shemesh, Israel - Degel Software Ltd., Israel's leading provider of software applications for mobile platforms, announced that it has developed the Orange Talk Now™ Push-to-Talk service for Nokia Series 60™ phones. Talk Now from Orange is a unique international service, offering instant voice communication and easy-to-access group calling and messaging with the added benefit of a real-time availability icon, so you can see who in your contact list is available to Talk Now.

Degel is a Symbian Platinum Partner with an impressive track record of bringing mobile applications to market in the area of instant messaging and personal productivity. Degel's team of engineers and QA specialists worked on behalf of the voice services, technology and innovation division at Orange to bring Talk Now to Nokia's popular line of Series 60 Symbian OS™ phones. "Degel's unique skills and experiences have made a significant impact on our ability to quickly deliver innovative Series 60 based products and services including Talk Now to our subscribers," said Steve Strassmann, director of device services development for Orange voice services, innovation and technology in Boston, USA.

"Working with Orange's teams worldwide was a true pleasure" said Degel founder and President David Goldfarb. "We are pleased that Degel's skills and commitment to quality and excellence helped Orange release this groundbreaking application on Series 60."

About Talk Now

Talk Now™ is an international Push-to-Talk service from Orange that lets you instantly communicate with another user (or group of users) by simply pressing a button: at its simplest, Talk Now is a walkie-talkie service offered on a phone. Talk Now™ also has the added benefit of an availability icon, giving real-time information about the availability of the members of the user's contact list (you set your availability, so you can choose not to be disturbed by a Talk Now session). Everyone on the Talk Now™ call hears what's being said, and up to 10 people can be on the same call. Talk Now™ can also be switched to silent mode to ensure that people in the vicinity are not disturbed.
