MobiSecure Token Wallet Provides Businesses With a New Tool to Combat Online
Fraud and Eliminates the Need for Consumers to Carry Multiple Tokens
THE SYMBIAN SMARTPHONE SHOW, LONDON and TORONTO, Oct. 11 -- Diversinet Corp.
(OTC Bulletin Board: DVNTF), a
leading provider of mobile-enabled personal authentication and security
solutions today announced at the Symbian Smartphone Show the release of the
industry's first OATH-compliant multi-token wallet available for Symbian
OS(TM) mobile phones. Diversinet's MobiSecure Token Wallet allows consumers to
load as many strong authentication credentials as they need into their Symbian
OS mobile phones, eliminating the need to carry a variety of strong
authentication tokens to access their bank accounts, enterprise networks and
online communities.
"By combining the full OATH-compliant functionality of MobiSecure with the
industry-leading Symbian OS, consumers, enterprises and service providers can
now economically add strong authentication protection to electronic
communications and commerce applications without having to carry and manage
multiple tokens," says Kashif Hassan, President of Diversinet. "Everyone
always remembers to take their wallet, keys and mobile phone with them. Why
would anyone want to carry around a bunch of different tokens when they could
use their mobile phone as a token wallet for online access? Our MobiSecure
Token Wallet is a simple, convenient identity protection utility built for
mass-market consumer strong authentication services."
The number of Symbian OS phones in the market is growing rapidly as more
than 200 carriers worldwide sell more than 50 Symbian OS-based models from all
the world's leading handset makers. More than 14 million Symbian OS phones
were shipped in the first half of this year alone, a year on year growth rate
of 190%, taking the installed base of Symbian OS phones to almost 40 million
phones. According to technology analyst firm Canalys, overall global
shipments of smartphones are up 105% year on year in Q2 2005 with Symbian OS
as the clear market leader.
The MobiSecure Token Wallet is built on Diversinet's mobile-optimized
cryptographic and credential management core libraries bound to the highly-
complex interfaces integrated within Symbian OS security elements and APIs.
The MobiSecure Token Wallet and its multiple credentials are securely
provisioned Over-The-Air (OTA) and managed by Diversinet's MobiSecure
Authentication Service Center.
The Diversinet MobiSecure Token Wallet is available for Symbian OS Series
60 Platform mobile devices manufactured by Nokia, Samsung, Panasonic and other
leading mobile device vendors and will be available in early 2006 for
additional Symbian OS operating environments.
