RoadSync, a Software Solution Providing Wireless Connectivity to Outlook Data for Mobile Phones, Will Allow End-Users with Existing Devices, IT Managers and Licensees to Readily Take Advantage of the Mobile Benefits of Exchange 2003
DataViz, Inc., a leading provider of Office compatibility solutions for over 21 years, has announced that it has licensed the Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync protocol. DataViz intends to incorporate this technology into RoadSync, a mobile ActiveSync client available both commercially and to potential licensees. It will provide non-Microsoft smartphones and other mobile devices with direct, over-the-air, secure synchronization with corporate Outlook e-mail and personal information management data, such as calendar and contacts. By integrating the RoadSync client with ActiveSync, enterprise customers will have more choices in the types of mobile devices they deploy and will be better able to utilize their existing Exchange Server investment instead of relying on costly middleware solutions. The first editions of RoadSync to incorporate the ActiveSync protocol will be available in May 2005 for the Symbian OS based UIQ platform, Palm OS, and select Java MIDP 2.0 devices, such as the Sony Ericsson P900 series, palmOne Treo and Motorola RAZR respectively.
"Our goal is to enable our customers to achieve the next level of mobility in their 'Office life' by providing full access to their Outlook data, regardless of their chosen device or platform." said Dick Fontana, president and CEO of DataViz, Inc. "With RoadSync for Symbian UIQ, Palm OS and Java available in May, followed by phased implementations for BREW and Nokia's Series 60 and Series 80 platforms throughout this year, we will enable many to easily take their 'Office life' wireless, sooner, rather than later."
"DataViz' speed to market will allow more customers to take advantage of the benefits of Exchange Server ActiveSync using mobile devices and smartphones currently on the market today," said Kim Akers, Senior Marketing Director of the Exchange product group at Microsoft. "Through this licensing agreement, more companies of all sizes will be able to deploy direct wireless access to Exchange data, enhancing end-user productivity, while lowering IT costs."
