A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!

The apps for phones RAD tool enables software developers, whatever their programming
skills, to build applications for phones.
3GSM World Congress, Cannes, France. apps for phones announced today that their
RAD tool for creating applications for phones and other wireless devices that
support the J2ME standard is now available for sale at their web site www.appsforphones.com.
The visual designer allows for a “drag and drop” development process and the
automatic separation of UI from business logic simplifies the issues normally
associated with porting J2ME applications between different phones. It also provides
easy integration with Web Services, which enables developers to integrate legacy
systems and Internet servers.
“We have focussed on the needs of all types of software developers who wish to
work with mobile phones,” commented Chief Product Officer apps for phones, Andrew
Terry. “They need a tool that combines ease of use with sophisticated capabilities
and total control of their applications across a wide range of phones”.
“We are delighted to be announcing our commercial launch at the 3GSM World Congress,
as part of our presentation at the Cutting Edge, Venture Funded Technology Seminar,”
said Bill Colwill, VP Business Development apps for phones. “With millions of
Java based phones already shipped, the only roadblock has been the lack of compelling
development tools. We have bulldozed our way through that blockage and now we
and our customers can start the next generation of computing”.
