Intellisync Announces Robust, Enterprise-Grade Mobility Offering for Series 60 Platform Print E-mail
Written by Intellisync
Tuesday, 15 February 2005
Intellisync Corporation (Nasdaq: SYNC), a leading developer and marketer of wireless software for the worldwide mobile communications industry, today announced that it is bringing its award-winning Intellisync® Mobile Suite™ software to the Series 60 Platform.

Intellisync® Mobile Suite™ Software Now Provides Award-winning Wireless Push Email, File Sync and Device Management for World’s Leading Smartphone Platform

Announced in conjunction with the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France, this new release of Intellisync’s enterprise-grade mobility suite will offer wireless push email and file synchronization for Series 60-based smartphones, as well as enable enterprise IT departments to manage these devices remotely from a centralized console. The Series 60 smartphone architecture provides users with all the basic and advanced cellular phone functions in a compact device characterized by a large color screen, rich communications and enhanced applications.

Intellisync Mobile Suite will enable users of Series 60-based smartphones to connect to leading groupware/email servers such as Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino for delivery of push-based email and synchronization of calendar, contacts and tasks. In addition, Mobile Suite’s file synchronization capabilities will automate distribution of any file or intranet content to Series 60-based devices, keeping the information up-to-date and relevant. Intellisync Mobile Suite’s systems management capabilities allow IT administrators to manage every aspect of their mobile solution through an easy-to-use administrative console. They can automatically deploy and update mobile software over a network, configure devices on an individual and group basis, inventory their mobile device and software assets, back up and restore device data, and take advantage of theft/loss control features that protect data when devices potentially fall into the wrong hands.

"Intellisync is excited about the enterprise and mobile-operator market opportunities that, we believe, will be created with the introduction of our Mobile Suite software for the industry-leading Series 60 smartphone platform,” said Intellisync CEO Woodson (Woody) Hobbs. "We are also confident that Intellisync’s technology will play a large role in increasing enterprise adoption of Series 60-based devices by providing an effective way to manage smartphone deployments via an easy-to-use administrative console.”

Series 60 Platform, built on Symbian OS, is the world’s leading smartphone platform, with millions of devices in the market ready for the deployment of quality mobile applications. It is licensed by some of the foremost mobile phone manufacturers including Lenovo, LG Electronics, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung, Sendo and Siemens.

"As mobility becomes increasingly integral to corporate IT strategies, IT managers are seeking the type of robust and flexible device management that they currently use to maintain and protect PCs on their networks," said Linda Senigaglia, business development manager, Forum Nokia. "We anticipate the availability of the Intellisync Mobile Suite for Series 60-based handsets will help to speed deployment of these devices in the enterprise."

Intellisync has been cited as one of the leading providers of mobile applications and device management software in recent reports by analysts such as IDC and Gartner (see “Worldwide Mobile Middleware 2004-2008 Forecast and Analysis”, IDC# 32212, November 2004; “Worldwide Mobile Device Management Enterprise 2003 Vendor Shares”, IDC# 31745, August 2004; “Magic Quadrant for Wireless E-mail 1H04 Leaders/Challengers”, Gartner, July 2004).

Intellisync is a member of Forum Nokia PRO, Nokia's advanced developer program. As a member, Intellisync receives specialized support as it creates the next generation of software for the Series 40, Series 60 and Series 80 platforms developed by Nokia. Intellisync enjoys early access to Nokia technology, close integration of its software with Nokia devices, benefits through Nokia's extensive worldwide software distribution channels, and invitations to participate in valuable co-marketing activities. A select number of companies worldwide who demonstrate industry leadership are chosen as Forum Nokia PRO members.
