Silk Mobile Ltd today announced a partnership with Macromedia, to offer Flash design services and application development to enhance and support Flash applications on mobile handsets.
Silk provides enhancements for Flash Lite mobile applications
Silk Mobile has developed a connection manager and Write2File application for Flash Lite. The Silk connection manager allows Flash Lite content and applications to be updated over the air and sends alerts to users as new content becomes available. Silk Write2File enables Flash applications to store preferences, allowing Flash to tailor information presented to the user. These extensions are available for Silk customers on the Symbian Series 60 platform, with Symbian UIQ, Windows Mobile Smartphone and Pocket PC versions becoming available shortly.
Macromedia Flash Lite is a version of Macromedia Flash Player specifically developed for mobile phones so consumers can benefit from the power of rich interactive Flash experiences. Macromedia has a strong Flash developer community on-line and is replicating this success in the mobile space. Silk’s extensions to Flash Lite provide additional benefits for customers who want to quickly and seamlessly deliver rich, personalised and up-to-date Flash content. Silk’s background in mobile application development and mobile content presentation for Symbian, Microsoft and proprietary mobile platforms make them a perfect fit to complement the capabilities of the Flash Lite player.
Silk’s in-house design team have a strong understanding of design for mobile phones, having worked with mobile operators since 1999, and vast experience of Flash design both on-line and on-handset. Designing on-handset help applications for mobile phones has demonstrated the importance of keeping design straightforward, user-friendly and intuitive in mobile. Silk will work with clients to make Flash Lite applications a success by designing rich, intuitive mobile user interfaces and developing simple to use functionality, helping to drive adoption.
“Silk’s ability to design and develop compelling and intuitive mobile Flash applications make them a perfect partner for us as we continue to provide rich mobile multimedia experiences to mobile users,” said Steve Miller, Vice President EMEA.
