Cloakware Corporation, Cloakware announced today that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Program to support the growing market for smartphones based on Symbian OS™. As a Platinum Partner, Cloakware is extending Cloakware Robustness Solutions to the Symbian OS ecosystem, providing handset manufacturers with an out-of-the-box solution for protecting their Digital Rights Management (DRM) applications.
"This partnership reflects our commitment to content protection and our intent to build upon our mobile strategy," said Jeff Waxman, President and CEO of Cloakware. "By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, we can further expand our robustness solutions and strengthen our relationships with application developers and smartphone manufacturers. Symbian’s policy of openness underpins industry models that create value for everyone and Cloakware is delighted to be part of the Symbian OS ecosystem."
Cloakware enables Symbian partners, including smartphone and handset manufacturers, to comply with robustness requirements for the protection of content on their platforms, making their media players secure. This out-of-the- box solution speeds time to market, reduces development costs and simplifies implementation through the use of pre-secured code and tools. Cloakware’s Robustness Solutions enable vendors to easily protect DRM as required by Robustness Rules defined by leading standards and protocols. These include Microsoft WMDRM, COPP, OMA and Broadcast Flag for Digital TV. In addition, Cloakware’s Robustness Solutions provide content providers (such as Hollywood studios) with confidence that their copyrighted material is protected from piracy and fraudulent distribution.
"As content on smartphones becomes more feature-rich and compelling, robust DRM is required to prevent fraudulent distribution," said Simon Garth, VP Marketing, Symbian. "We are pleased to have Cloakware join the Symbian Platinum Program and bring its software protection technology to the Symbian ecosystem."
To meet the specific requirements of today’s application development community, Cloakware also offers the broadest range of proven software protection tools and techniques commercially available. With its Cloakware Security Suite, the company provides developers with the ability to protect any application, such as mobile games, against reverse engineering, tampering and automated attacks. The Cloakware Security Suite conceals proprietary algorithms and secrets, including cryptographic keys, embedded in the software, so that applications can be deployed on untrusted hosts and in hostile environments like the Internet.
