 This month marks the first anniversary of the Forum Nokia PRO premium support
program for mobile developers. We take a quick look back at the past year.
It's hard to believe that its been almost a year since we first spoke to Marc
Naddell of Forum Nokia's developer program management about Nokia's latest developer
offering - details here.
During its first year, PRO offered its members numerous benefits. Most noteworthy, members
have apparently realised some signifigant increases in earnings. Other notable
benefits of membership include:
- access to an exclusive tool (Python).
- press release templates for use by member companies.
- releases of the Developer Platform road map.
- new services: Preminet Solution, e-store, classified ads, and loaner list.
- industry events providing member exposure.
- exclusive briefings.
- Forum Nokia PRO-sponsored training events.
- prototype loaner devices.
- Webinars.
- Consumer and enterprise catalogs.

Forum Nokia PRO connects member developers to the ultimate level of technical
resource and business development support including:Exclusive access to product
roadmaps, Early access to devices and SDKs, preferential access to technical,
training, and support services, Business development, co-marketing, and media
relations support, and a streamlined application sales channel for direct and
profitable access to operators and other leading channels worldwide.
PRO members say the program's benefits include significant savings, market exposure,
and sales network expansion. According to a survey of Forum Pro members, after
one year of membership, the average incremental gain for Forum Nokia PRO members
who responded to the survey was 150,000 euros. Others realized increased earnings,
cost savings, and other intangible benefits. The survey results show how Forum
Nokia PRO members benefit from the program. In addition to citing sales channels
and prototype devices, members also mentioned training, technical support, and
early access to tools, SDKs, and product roadmaps as valuable benefits of PRO
membership.
Other PRO members say they benefit from match-making events such as applications
summits; co-marketing opportunities at tradeshows such as JavaOne, CTIA, and 3GSM;
and having their applications included on Nokia phones. These efforts, members
say, connect them to new markets and new customers. Also, members say having access
to hardware prototypes has both significantly reduced their development time and
let them offer product demonstrations on state-of-the-art devices.
Members who experienced the greatest return on investment in their respective
regions and application categories were selected as last Forum Nokia Pro winners.
