A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! Enter Nokia viNe 101
It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!
Futuremark Releases Consumer Version of SPMark(TM)04 Benchmark for Symbian Based Smart Phones

Tuesday, 23 November 2004
Futuremark Corporation, the leading provider of performance analysis software and services, has launched a consumer version of its SPMark(TM)04 Smart Phone benchmark enabling smart phone users to gauge the performance and detailed system information for their mobile devices.
SPMark(TM)04 has become the industry's most widely used testing tool for Symbian-based smart phones and is rapidly becoming the de-facto performance measurement standard for mobile platforms.
SPMark(TM)04 provides a comprehensive application for measuring and comparing the performance of mobile devices. Its benefit to the industry is to allow consumers, media, retailers, and operators to objectively compare different handsets. Handset manufacturers use SPMark(TM)04 to reliably evaluate and compare various semiconductor implementations.
"The consumer version of SPMark(TM)04 provides owners of compatible handsets with previously unavailable information, including detailed performance and comparison data. Now anyone can see exactly how their own phone performs and compares to new models reviewed in the independent media", said Tero Sarkkinen, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Futuremark.
The benchmark has been developed in collaboration with key industry partners, including ATI, Bitboys, Imagination Technologies (PowerVR), Intel, Khronos Group, Neomagic, and NVIDIA under Futuremark's Benchmark Development Program for Smartphones.
SPMark(TM)04 consumer version measures the performance of Series 60 and UIQ based smartphones and includes visually stunning 3D game play tests using the OpenGL ES graphics API. For handsets without hardware OpenGL ES implementation, the benchmark includes Hybrid Graphics' OpenGL ES API Implementation.
Key Features of SPMark(TM)04 consumer version:
Free download;
Supports handsets with Symbian 6 and 7 operating systems and Series60 or UIQ user interface;
Comprehensive OpenGL ES 3D test suite to measure graphics performance;
Detailed system information module that reveals phone's technical data
Pricing and Availability
SPMark(TM)04 consumer version is immediately available as a free download from Futuremark's web site at www.futuremark.com. For corporations, there are SPMark(TM)04 Business Edition ($250) and SPMark(TM)04 Developer's Edition ($6,000 + programming).
