V-Enable Breaks the Five Second Latency Barrier Print E-mail
Written by V-Enable, Inc
Monday, 25 October 2004

- veClient 1.1 and veGATEWAY 4.1 Now Offers 5 Second Average Response Time For Voice Recognition, Bringing Even Better Ease-Of-Use and Increased End User Satisfaction -

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 25 -- V-Enable, the worldwide leader in mobile Multidimensional and Multimodal solutions, today announced the release of veClient 1.1 and veGateway 4.1. Voice recognition latency is now significantly reduced to, on average, 5 seconds from the previous range of 10-12 seconds for GPRS and CDMA 1X handsets.

veCLIENT 1.1 has an extremely small footprint multimodal extension, developed for multiple mobile device platforms such as JAVA/BREW/ SYMBIAN, that manages multimodal interactions with the veGATEWAY server. veGATEWAY is a robust, carrier-grade middleware/platform that renders standards-based multimodal content for the target mobile device.

V-Enables enhanced voice-to-text latency makes the end-user interface five times faster then a text based search. The V-Enable solution is the fastest in the industry by a significant margin. By the end of 2004, veGateway latency will be in the 1-3 second range on EDGE and EV-DO networks.

veClient 1.1 and veGATEWAY 4.1 are available for all platform solutions -- Brew, J2ME, and Symbian.

"Multimodality continues to make the user experience more satisfying," stated Fernando Corona, President and CEO, V-Enable. "And, we continue to take an industry leadership role to bring the most robust Multimodal solution to the application developer community."

"In April we commercially launched the world's first Multimodal Solution. Post launch, we collected data on user acceptance and found that 70% of users choose to speak input rather than type it. Consumers want Multimodality. And we want the user experience to be even better. By cutting latency by more than half, we are making input on wireless handsets truly painless," said Dipanshu Sharma, Founder & CTO, V-Enable.
