Cool Series 60 App: Where I am Print E-mail
Written by Glenn Letham

A powerful tool to perform various actions on the Series 60 phones, based on its geographical location. This useful app is valuable to people on the go and those in the mobile workforce.

Where I am is a powerful tool from Psiloc designed to perform various actions on the Series 60 phones, based on its geographical location.

Locating of the device is based on the GSM network cells. Thanks to the application the GSM network cells ID are not visible for the end user. The only thing he /she has to do is to teach the mobile phone the important locations like home, school, work, best friend, train station, church etc. This work is very easy and doesn’t require any technical knowledge and understanding. It can be done from Options->Learn location on the first tab Where?
The greatest adventage for the end user is that the application lets to create EVENTS, while at least one location is saved.
Currently Where I am offers five types of events:

Alarm

That event means that end user may set up an alarm, that will activate when the mobile phone would approach or exit selected location (geographical area). So using this application end user may sleep in the train to work / school, knowing that his /her device will wake him / her up exactly at the desired station, even if the train will be late or before scheduled

Switch profile

That type of event will change profile of the end user phone automatically, based on the location (geographical area)

Power off

Entering the location where mobile phone should be switched off, end user may set a power off event.

Change image

Based on the location, the end user’s phone may change the background image automatically, so end user may choose the company logo as the background at the office location and family picture at the home location.

SMS

The automatic SMS sending event can be used to inform the end user family of coming back from work etc.
Where I am is very user friendly application and understandable for every users even though it implements a highly sophisticated technology.
